My Road..

My life
is a
crazy, hectic, insane roller coaster ride and on this journey I am learning everyday how to love the Lord, myself, and others. My Jesus said in Matthew 11:29, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." And that is my exact mission. I want to follow God, learn constantly and my goal is to become gentle, humble and peaceful in every aspect of this life. I have an amazing story so far... but God is no where near showing me or the world the ending. :) I am a daughter, smiler, girlfriend, lover, writer, blogger, friend, sister, painter, gardener and I LOVE who I am. On this journey I have one prayer and that is to: "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul."-Psalms 143:8

I am unsure, unfinished... and I am happy.
I am Kelsey.

Number One: Servant's Heart

In Honor of the fantastic American holiday occurring this week, Thanksgiving, I am going to write each day of the week about something I am truly, truly thankful for. I genuinely thank the Lord for all He's blessed me with daily, but there are a few things I want to give a special thanks for...

Today, I am thankful for people who have a servant's heart just like Jesus'.

Tonight I was introduced to a beautiful, kind, elderly, "Granger". (Which here in LaGrange is what the locals are called.) Mrs. Beth is a phenomenal woman who was struck by tragedy a few years back. In the month of December, the wonderful month we spend in a state of constant celebration, Mrs. Beth & her family lost someone very close to them. After Mrs. Beth's daughter died she had a really hard time getting herself to put up christmas decorations, when this time reminded her so much of her painful loss.

Mrs. Beth also happens to be the INCREDIBLE cook at the local First Methodist United Church for the Wednesday night supper, which is where LaGrange College students frequently attend-- free food. You make the connection. While Mrs. Beth served dinner every Wednesday night to these lively, interesting, loving college students-she came up with a brilliant idea!

When the next Christmas came around, Mrs. Beth invited all the college students she knew over to her house, prepared a fabulous, home-cooked meal, and in exchange for the free dinner asked the students to help her family decorate their house for Christmas. Students came every year and formed beautiful bonds with Mrs. Beth and her family. They enjoyed her company and each other's and sang Christmas carols while putting the star on the tree.

This has turned into a famous tradition throughout certain college groups at the college and I was blessed enough to be a part of it tonight. Her home is perfect. The food was delicious. The company was unique. The atmosphere was peaceful. And the Love was evident.

I am so thankful that the Lord has brought to me the right school, to meet the right people and friends, that have allowed me to find such perfect and beautiful opportunities to be blessed like such. Mrs. Beth has a true servants heart, just like Jesus'. I am so thankful for those kind of hearts, because without them our world would be such a dark and separated place.

  1. once again, you have eloquently expressed a loving heart. I loved the next to last paragraph ... "and the Love was evident." Aunt Kett
